Since two weeks Slavey Karadzhov started to develop new IM Proxy Server based on Danga::Socket. We are just at the beginning of creating the new server(using a lot of Perlbal code), but the results look quite promising. At that early stage the server can handle a lot of simultaneous connections and has SSL support. Hopefully the final version of the new server will be more scalable than the old one.

With the new version we decided to create new RESTful protocol, on top of HTTP (version >= 1.0). You can read the latest version of the protocol from here . This protocol will simplify the task of 3rd parties to develop Laffer clients(like web, mobile using j2me or other).
